BOTW MC General Discussion (Public) / Junior League of Wheeling needs your help!
« Last post by Candace on May 04, 2016, 09:00:27 AM »
Hi! My name is Candace McBee and I am the current president of the Junior League of Wheeling. I apologize if I should not be posting on this forum. I could not find a phone number and many of our members wanted me to reach out to your organization. The Junior League of Wheeling is a group of approximately 50 women who volunteer within the Ohio Valley community. The Junior League of Wheeling, Inc. (JLW) is a driving force in the community, respected and known for its commitment and service. Our mission focuses on developing the potential of women, promoting voluntarism and improving the community. It’s purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Our main focus is volunteering to make an impact on children's lives. The Junior League is getting ready to renovate the Janie S. Altmeyer Heritage Port Playground located in Wheeling, WV. This is where we need your help! We need volunteers for this playground renovation to be a success.

The renovation is scheduled to take place between May 18-22nd and we are seeking volunteers! The playground renovation will be a 5 day community build consisting of skilled and unskilled laborers. The project will be managed by a project manager (Dave Johnson) by Leathers and Associates. Leathers and Associates is the originally designer of the playground. The playground renovation will take place in two phases. The first phase is scheduled for May 18-22nd and will consist of replacing the existing materials with newer materials that will give the playground a life expectancy of 15-20 years. We will also be adding two new ADA attractions: a rocking platform swing for wheelchairs in shape of a boat and a 4 panel sensory wall for children who have visual and sensory impairments. The second phase will take place hopefully this fall and will not require volunteers. The second phase will be replacing the wood mulch with a rubberized surfacing that a contracted company will come in and install.

The Junior League really needs volunteers for the first phase of the build (May 18-22nd). We would like to have as many skilled laborers as possible to help guide those of us that are unskilled. We are also seeking tools to borrow for the build. Tools will be checked into a tool storage unit where each person donating will be given a number for the tools donated. If something were to happen to the tools on loan, the Junior League will replace the tools at value. We will also have paid security to watch the tools because they will be left in a locked storage unit on the construction site.

If anyone would like to sign up to volunteer they can contact Candace McBee at cgmcbee@yahoo.com or at 304-312-8405.

You can also sign up on our volunteer webpage at https://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/1690927940112
to select time slots. The time slots that we have available are Wednesday through Saturday 8 am-noon, 12:30-5 pm and 5:30-9 pm and on Sunday 8 am-noon and 12:30-5 pm. We are hoping to open the new and improved playground up to the community on Sunday, May 22nd around 5:00 pm.

Please share the Junior League’s project in hopes that we can come together as a community and renovate a wonderful and amazing playground for our children!

If you or anyone you know have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at cgmcbee@yahoo.com or call/text my cell phone at 304-312-8405.

I will be more than happy to discuss this project with anyone who is interested and also email our playground packet. Thanks!

If your only buffing (didnt do any sanding) your bike ,you may want to use (mirrow glaze) ultra-cut compound #M10532( some autozones carry it) instead of the ultimate compound. The M10532 is a little less abrasive, cuts well also, and then use the polish. You might even just try the polish,it cuts good by its self, instead of buffing.Remember they didnt provide you with much clear coat, from the factory,so the least amount of buffing and polishing that you can get away with. Some times a good cleaner wax does just as well .
